My site for the night |
Yep, that is how close I am to the traffic |
I took a tour of the Calico Ghost Town which also had RV parking up in the hills but all the sites were reserved. Must be some kind of destination point but although the land felt really good, none of the buildings were authentic and it had a plastic feel to it. I also went to Peggy Sue's 50s Diner which also had that odd feel to it.
This is my third time across the Mojave Desert and my first time to stop mid-way across. I wonder, what am I missing??? Maybe this is just how it feels when you are in the middle of nowhere and you do your best to entice people to stop and stay awhile.
For me, I hope to be on the road early tomorrow morning.
Good Grief! Looking at the photos of your site, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. What a horrible spot. I hope you aren't paying much. But I guess once you're settled and comfortable, you can pull the curtains and it doesn't matter. I hope your next place is much better, with a beautiful view! :)
ReplyDeleteLaughing is always best:). And this site wasn't cheap - $40. Sometimes you just get caught between places and you take what you can get. I slept fine last night and had internet, so all was just fine.
ReplyDeleteI also felt for you when I saw the pictures. When I bought my motor home my sister and I headed for Williams, AZ. I didn't want to drive through PHX. so I had someone map out a trip around. Big mistake. after driving for 7 hrs. I only was in Peoria which is only 2hrs from Tucson. I was exhausted and I just couldn't drive any more. I had seen a sign for and RV Park and turned around. It looked like your spot. We dubbed it the Bates RV Park. I will just bite the bullet the next time and go thru PHX.
ReplyDeleteHope you have better luck next stop.
There's pleanty of free camping in the desert. I was less than 20 miles from Barstow less than a week before you were there -- check out my "Victor Valley Gem" blog entry.
ReplyDeleteHi Blars,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, looks a lot better than where I was:). At the moment I am not set up for boondocking, but hopefully in the future. Then I will have many more options.
